Torremolinos is a tourism-oriented city and municipality on the Costa del Sol of the Mediterranean. It is located in
province of Malaga,
Andalusia, southern
Spain, immediately to the west of the city of
Malaga (15km). Its outskirts border also to the west with
Benalmadena, to the north with Alhaurin and to the south with the Mediterranean sea.
In the past it was a poor fishing village but nowadays it is grouw up in well-known tourism destination. Beginning in the late 1950s,
Torremolinos was the first of the Costa del Sol resorts to develop.
Torremolinos is easy to reach thanks to its perfect road network like high- and motorways,
Malaga airport is at only 5 mins and its public transport system bus- and train station are at 15 mins.
The town is very popular with British tourists and has a large British expatriate population.
