Municipality Ferrol

City of Ferrol is located in province of Corruna in autonomous community of Galica, Spain. It is situated on the coast, a few kilometres north of la Coruna city. It is no so popular tourist destination but is one of Galicia's major cities.

The town has a long seafaring history with civil and military significance. Ferrol was the port from which Spain's massive Armada was launched against the English in 1588. This is birth city of the former Spanish leader general Franco.

The area around Ferrol has numerous beaches and also some coastal castles or forts.
