Municipality Sauzal (El)

El Sauzal is located on the north coast of Tenerife about 20 km east of Puerto de la Cruz and about 20 km south-west of the island's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. This small town is right in Tenerife’s wine producing region. The place is surrounded by vineyards and is very popular with families and people seeking a quiet vacation.

Wine lovers will be particularly taken with El Sauzal thanks to its fine local wines which are served up with excellent Canarian dishes in the town’s restaurants. A number of vineyards in the vicinity provide wine tastings in their cellars and the wine museum of Casa del Vino la Baranda is also worth a visit.

The small town of El Sauzal is a really pleasant place for walks in the evening. One can stroll through its narrow streets and marvel at the town’s lovely churches, impressive architecture and fine squares.

The beach at Mesa del Mar is just a few minutes outside El Sauzal and is one of the best on the island. There are also a number of other good beaches such as Playa do los Troches and Playa de San Roque at a convenient distance.

A couple of interesting towns to visit which are only 10 km away are the university town of La Laguna and the colonial town of La Orotava.
