The little white village Loja is located in province of Granada (Andalusia, Spain), about 45km West of the town of Granada. This is a classical Andalusian style village.
Loja has historically determined internal communication between Granada and Málaga and is the focal point of the region of Poniente. It was the "key to the Kingdom of Granada" for the Catholic Monarchs. The Arabic name of Loja, Medina Lauxa ("The Guardian City"), refers to its enormous strategic importance and to the very important military role it played during the Christian conquest of the Kingdom of Granada.
