Municipality Alfacar is located in autonomous community of
Andalusia,
Spain. It is part of
Granada province. The municipal center,
town of Alfacar, is situated around 8 kilometers away of city of
Granada, on the edge of the Sierra de Huétor Natural Park at an altitude of 920 meters. The region is rich of olive trees.
Alfacar is a town with long history. The area has been occupied by humans since prehistory. In the Moorish period it was a summer retreat for the Moslem Zirite Kings and its old center still has buildings with Arab influence.
The town is popular also as dead place of the Spanish poet Federico García Lorca who was shot and buried there during the Spanish Civil War.

Alfacar is well provided with shops, a medical center, theater, sports center and many other facilities.
