Arrecife is a municipal city from province of Las Palmas (Canary Islands, Spain). The city owes its name to the rock reef ("Arrecife"=reef in spanish) which covers the beach located in the city. It is a capital of island Lanzarote.
The town is located in the centre-east of the island, south of municipality Haría, east of Tinajo and northeast of Yaiza. There is airport near by and port that serving the other islands and also Europe and mainland Africa.
The main industries are agriculture, business and tourism. In town of Arrecife, on the front alongside the harbour, is sitauted the tallest building on the Canary Islands - the Gran Hotel Arrecife.
